It’s official. I’m completely OUT OF SHAPE from being so exhausted my first trimester. I think part of me was kind of scared to do much too because I was afraid that I’d have another miscarriage. I was really, really tired though. During the first 15-16 weeks of pregnancy it took all of my energy just to make a meal, then collapse in a chair until the next one. From that point I’ve gotten some pep back, but I’m so OUT OF SHAPE from not being able to do hardly anything all those weeks that I get tired from tasks that I know I need to complete.
I was also sick starting last Tuesday with some unknown stomach pain. My upper stomach was burning constantly. It wasn’t heartburn, because I’ve had that before many times. I think it was some sort of weird bacterial infection. It got really bad on Thursday and Friday. We finally got me some kefir on Thursday night and by Saturday morning I was feeling quite a bit better. I now have no pain. There’s nothing like the GOOD kind of bacteria to kick some bad bacteria butt. I’m certain that was what made me better.
That hasn’t slowed me down this weekend though. I’m determined to get into some sort of “normal” shape soon. I shopped for necessities at Wal-Mart, Whole Foods, and Target, as well as a venture through the Franklin Farmer’s Market. (I’ll be going there again!) I weeded more rows of green beans. I also made some wicked meals at home…. We went to church on Saturday night. We picked a bunch of onions that were ready last night. I measured out the front yard for the edible landscaping I want to do there. And I also measured out the back where I want to put a patio, a little koi pond and some pretty landscaping. I have a good idea what I want to do with it.
I continued my dedication to catching up and getting IN SHAPE this morning. Due to my lack of energy, my tomato patch has become re-seeded naturally with grass. I cleared three plants with a little help from Lilly. (She’s a good little helper. I had Aggie “help” by “watching” Liam. Her kind of “help” generally comes with not much accomplishment and plenty of whining. I wasn’t in the mood for it, so she “took care” of Liam while Lilly and I toiled in the hot morning sun.
) I also set out the onions to sun dry. I took some sand and put it under each of my pumpkins in hopes that it will prevent them from getting rotted. I guess we’ll see how that goes. I took out a lot of the blossoms today, because the vines are pretty full. I’ll talk about that in a separate blog.
Things to do today:
1. Clean my nasty kitchen.
2. Can some pickled pepper/green tomato stuff.
3. Make some more wicked meals.
4. Pick up generally around the house.
5. Do some kid laundry.
Things to do this week:

3. Finish sun-drying the onions and five pods of shell beans.
4. If the peaches are “ready”, make some ginger-peach jam.
5. Weed the last row of beans.
6. Start planning out my edible landscaping front yard.
7. Do some lapbooks with the kids. (Thanks Laura!
